Dell Inspiron Duo Hybrid Tablet has Atom Inside

Dell has managed to pop many eyeballs by showing off hybrid netbook/tablet - Inspiron DUO at the ongoing Intel Developer Forum 2010 in San Francisco, California. The hybrid Dell Inspiron DUO tablet houses a 10.1-inch screen that can be flipped to turn it into a touchscreen tablet. Dell has put in Intel Atom N500 series microprocessor and loaded Windows 7 Premium on it. This hybrid netbook/tablet is due for arrival later this year.

Dell Inspiron DUO is a netbook/tablet hybrid transforming mobile computer. The 10.1-inch display is attached to a frame and the screen can be flipped inwards or outwards as needed. Appearing like a normal netbook, you can flip the screen outwards to turn the Inspiron Duo into a touchscreen tablet. As of now, we don't know if the display supports multi-touch or not.


The Dell Inspiron Duo hybrid netbook/laptop houses a 1.5GHz dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor and runs Windows 7 Premium OS. Hence, we can expect at least 2GB memory inside the netbook and standard 160GB or 250GB HDD for storage.

So far, the details of this hybrid netbook/tablet haven't been made available by Dell. This netbook is touted to arrive by the end of this year but there's no word on its pricing yet. At the CES 2010 in January, Lenovo had unveiled a unique hybrid netbook/tablet IdeaPad U1 and promised to make it available later this year. Now, we'll see how these two hybrid netbook/tablets would inspire the netbook segment.
