One Million LG Optimus One Sold in 40 days
ecently, LG had announced two smartphones running Google Android Froyo - Optimus One and Optimus Chic. Now, LG claims to have sold over 1 million Optimus One handsets worldwide. It's been hardly 40 days since its launch in Europe, Asia-Pacific and U.S. markets. Optimus One is powered with Android 2.2 Froyo update by default which is a good enough reason for users to buy the mid-range smartphone.
LG Optimus One P500 has 600MHz microprocessor and sports a 3.2-inch (320x480) large capacitive touchscreen. This phone offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, FM Radio and 1500mAh battery. The best feature of this smartphone is that it is Froyo ready and ships with it. On the other hand, users who already own Android 2.1 or lower running smartphones will have to wait for the Froyo update.
The sale of over 1 million Android Froyo running Optimus One doesn't seem surprising to me. A recent Gartner report on Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales noted LG of selling 27 million units in the third quarter of year 2010. Joining that with Android mobile operating system ranking on second, passing a one million mark for LG Optimus One looks like a cake walk.
